Sports Premium Funding

At Naburn CE Primary School we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of children. Through PE and sport, children develop many of our Christian values such as trust, courage, justice, humility, respect and perseverance.

What is the Primary PE and Sport Premium?

Introduced in 2013, the Primary PE and sport premium supports schools to provide pupils with an enriching curriculum that inspires more young people to get active, and enjoy the life changing benefits that come from play, sport and physical activity. The Department for Education (DfE) states that the premium should be used to develop or add to the PE, physical activity and sport that schools provide, and build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now are sustainable and will benefit pupils joining the school in future years. Sports Premium is funded in financial years; whereas school planning is based on academic years. The money must be used to improve the provision of P.E. and school sport, but schools will have the freedom to choose how they do this to allow schools to target their greatest challenges in relation to ensuring that all young people have the opportunity to live healthy and active lives.

The funding allocation for Naburn Church of England Primary School for 2024-25 was £16,330.

From 2025, all primary schools are required to complete the digital expenditure reporting return for the spending of the PE and Sport Premium Grant, starting with the 2024 to 2025 academic year. The return outlines how the school has used its PE and sport premium, and the impact the premium has had on achieving the aims and objectives of the funding.
