Hi from the School Council!

What do we do?

The school council is a group of children elected from each year group. We help to look after the school and represent the pupils.  We ask their opinions about things in circle time and then discuss their ideas in our meetings and pass on any really good ones to the teachers.

Naburn Community Sports field

The Naburn Community Sports Field has had football lines and goals put on it.  On Monday 2nd February 2009 the School Council met with representatives from the Parish Council to discuss what type of equipment was wanted on the field.  More information soon.

Travel Plan Meeting

In March we had a meeting between the school council, Gillian, the City of York School Travel Plan Coordinator, and Mrs. Lake.

We discussed what we like about bus travel:

  • It’s safe
  • It transports more people
  • It is good for the environment
  • You can see out and see what is going on
  • You can talk to people

We also discussed the times when we travel:

  • School trips
  • To the village hall for PE lessons
  • Getting to and from school
  • Going to church

We also discussed the ways that people around the world travel to school:

  • In America they have the yellow school buses
  • In India they cycle to school
