Welcome to our School!

Naburn School is a Voluntary Controlled Church of England school. It dates back to 1872, and although many improvements have been made since then, including the addition of an attractive extension, the fact that we still use the original Victorian building helps us to retain the atmosphere of a village school.

We have 78 children, aged 4 to 11 years from Reception to Year 6, grouped into four classes. Different ages often work together in the Foundation subjects, with extra challenges or support to provide differentiation. This has the advantage of allowing children to work at a level appropriate to their needs, rather than is prescribed by their year group.

We achieve great standards of literacy and numeracy, but also provide an enriched environment by involving the children in a wide variety of activities. We are also very keen that the children should be able to express themselves and consequently place great emphasis on creative and imaginative writing and on drama activities. We have exhibited the children's pottery at the City Art Gallery and participate regularly in the York Dance Festival as well as putting on our own annual show.

For parents of children who live in Stillingfleet there is a website available where you can access information about school transport at http://www.nyschoolbus.info/
