Welcome to Year 1 and Year 2

Summer Term 2009

Year 1 and Year 2 Dinosaur topic

During the last three weeks of the school year the children in Year 1 and Year 2 will be learning about dinosaurs and the way the world looked in prehistoric times.

They will be learning about the world of the dinosaurs, what the earth looked like, what lived at that time and how to identify the different kinds of dinosaurs. We will be acting as detectives and palaeontologists, looking for clues and making deductions from them.

For most of the Summer term our topic has been animals. We have been learning about where different animals live and what they eat.

Some good sites to look at for more information are:

 http://www.nwlg.org/pages/resources/living_things/

 All about animals at http://ngfl.northumberland.gov.uk/ict/AAA/default.htm

We are also learning about ourselves, how we grow and change and how to keep ourselves healthy.

Why not have a look at this site which is an interactive experiment that explores the differences between animals and non-living things.

And also have a look at this site which is an interactive simulation where you can make decisions about how much food, water, rest and exercise a human needs to survive. http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/scienceclips/ages/6_7/health_growth.shtml
